What caused the price of the Patek Philippe Calatrava 6196P to go up?
Data from WisePricing shows a consistent trend. Patek Philippe watches went up in price in September 2025.
The last time we covered Patek Philippe Calatrava 6196P we talked about how little price variability there was amongst retailers.
But an interesting trend has emerged from WisePricing data; both the Aquanaut 5167A and now the 6196P have seen a fairly rapid rise in prices in September (see below).

And in both instances the rise in pricing has been mostly entirely driven by authorized retailers.
How do retailers set their price
As we have covered in prior newsletters the world of luxury watches and luxury products pricing is different than other sectors of consumer products.
For luxury products like watches the brands set their MSRP and their authorized retailers sell it at that price.
The Patek Philippe Calatrava 6196P is no different. Their current MSRP is $56,904 and prior to this recent MSRP change it was lower in the early part of September 2025.
How do we know?
Well here’s WisePricing data below showing the dates when price increases were implemented from authorized retailers.

By the way if you are wondering about that one price of $49450 you can read more about it here.
But the data shows that at some point in September, Patek Philippe raised their MSRP by 15% for the Calatrava 6196P and their retailers followed suit.
The grayed out numbers are the non authorized retailers where the price increases were not as steep.
What is driving these price increases?
Well one likely possibility is that the Trump administration has put a 39% tariff on Swiss imports including watches in August 2025. These tariffs went into effect immediately and it appears that Swiss watchmakers passed some of those tariffs onto customers in September.
It does remain to be seen though, whether these price increases will eventually impact the demand for luxury or ultra luxury brands like Patek Philippe.
